This is a nifty muffuletta. I used cerise onion instead of the pickled onions and omitted the vegetable oil. I used only olive oil. It turned out great! This is totally accurate. Y'all'll think you are in the Large Easy! Thank you Boo for a fantastic recipe!

I am a New Orlean's Central Grocery Muffeletta fan. This recipe was slap-up!! Almost equally terrific as Key Grocery'due south version. Perhaps better, because I made information technology fresh!! My husband and I savored every bite. My daughter liked it on a Hawaiin Bread Roll, with a sweetness to it. My son is not an olive fan. That's o.k., more for me to consume!! Volition definitely brand this once again.

I made this for Superbowl, omitting the capers and mortadella. Delicious! My hubby, who was hesitant most the recipe, just loved information technology. One hint, make sure your olives are well drained and dried off with paper towels if yous don't want the salad to gustation also briny. This would be peachy to take on picnics or car trips as information technology can be fabricated in advance, and keeps well in the refrigerator otr a cooler. Thanks, Boo!

Boo, baby, ya done good. This is the all-time olive salad recipe I['ve ever seen (and I live in Due north.O. where I can purchase the real deal.) The reviewer who said she adds mustard -- well, honey, don't come up to New Orleans and do that, people will be appalled. My Only criticism -- we never, Always say "N'Awlins" here!!! Noo Awlins, New Orlins, New Or-le-unz, yes, the Crescent City, okay, but never that empty-headed Frank Davis "Nat'rally Nawlins" contraction. I give this recipe v fleur-de-lis'south!
01/27/2003
The sandwich was very good. The olive spread is very similar to what yous would discover on Bourbon Street. I prepared the olive spread the nighttime before to let the flavors to blend. Made information technology for Superbowl Sun and my friends loved it.
02/11/2002
This was truly impressive in gustation and presentation! Most people raved near information technology though the olive salad didn't conform a few of the others who wouldn't have liked information technology on anything else anyhow. I was fortunate enough to become the round loaves made fresh the morning time I needed them from the Italian grocery where I could buy everything else. DEEELICIOUS! I read in the reference section that the original and best mortadella can be purchased merely in Italian republic. Has anyone constitute this to take changed?
02/03/2002
The olive salad sure took a long time to make merely information technology was easy and the sense of taste of this sandwich... AMAZING! This was a big, big striking.
12/x/2001
The olive salad was a huge hit at a tailgate political party. I am making it once more as a gift for family who loved it. Equally close to the original Primal Grocery olive salad equally I have tasted. A keeper!
01/09/2011
Never heard of this till I saw it on Emeril. Following his atomic number 82 I make this recipe but I wrap information technology if foil and put it in the oven at 375 for 15-20 minutes before serving. Attempt information technology this way too.
03/01/2002
succulent!!!!!
08/08/2001
Great gustatory modality! Definately a new house favorite!
02/13/2011
hoooo, yep. I make the olive salad in the food processor - rough chop the stuff, then just three or four pulses to keep it fibroid. so add the liquids and seasonings in the jar it's going to be stored in. So hard to get skilful bread upwardly here in Maine, but a crusty italian loaf is a must. In flavour, I spread a few fresh basil leaves on height of the olive salad when building the sandwich. I use cappicola; mild or hot. I normally make at least two of these, so I exercise i spicy and one balmy. This is the best summertime picnic meal EVER. Thanks for sharing an outstanding recipe. Vegetarians like this with roasted red peppers and/or grilled eggplant to replace the meats.
08/06/2010
This is my 3rd time making this awesome sandwich. I buy the olive mix premade from an awesome local grocery and all of the meats and cheese, besides. I turn down to use Mortedello (it'due south bolonga!!). I buy Coppa Colla instead. YUM! This may make eight servings but, my family of 3--hubby, 18 year old son and me---eat the whole affair easily. I do not eat very much. If there are leftovers, the hubby wants them in his lunch which ticks off the son who figured information technology would be his breakfast. They have asked me to detect the biggest rounds of bread I can. As well funny! Maybe I volition brand it next fourth dimension on a long french loaf just for grins. Cheers for a corking recipe! My baby is now off to college in the morning time. He requested this as his "terminal supper". You lot know you have a nifty recipe when an 18 yr one-time boy requests it for a special occasion. I will have to drive down to his dorm with 1 or 2 of these and surprise him and his friends one of these days. Won't tell him I did information technology because of empty nest syndrome.....just a Mom wanting to surprise her son. :). Oh, I too wrap it tight in Saran Wrap and then weigh it downward with heavy books or ? for at least 4 hours to overnight. That spreads the juices of the olive salad so nicely.
02/26/2011
I requite this five stars because it is really 2 recipes in one: a great olive salad (really, fantastic) and a sandwich that is easily customized. The olive salad is very forgiving if y'all take to substitute or omit, but the original is really the best!! I fabricated 6x the olive salad for a party...FYI information technology made about a gallon if you omit the cauliflower. Nosotros made 85 sandwiches using 8" soft French subs and, wrapped in foil, they toasted upwards perfectly the adjacent day! Chlled, the sandwiches did take nearly 20-30 minutes to bake - depending on your oven. They cut well into smaller "mini muffalettas" and fabricated a slap-up cocktail sandwich.
03/10/2003
WOWIE! Although I've never been to New Orleans, nor do I know anything most Central Grocery, I tin can only imagine what gourmet delights lay in store. This sandwich was outstanding! I immune the olive salad to sit for two days, then prepared the sandwiches. Boo, you've outdone yourself on this recipe. This olive salad is too expert to be kept a hush-hush. Many folks in Seattle will be happy to become jars of this from me. Then yous'll accept many many fans of your wonderful Muffeletta! Thanks so much.
02/07/2011
The trick to the olive salad is to roughly chop green and black olives (your selection) in a food processor, add good, fruity, olive oil, a dash of GOOD balsamic vinegar, some freshly pressed garlic - cover and let it sit down overnight at room temperature. Mix well and spread the inside of your fresh Italian bread with the liquid that collects after a day or so. Broil for a minute or two, just to brown a little and proceed with the recipe with whatever deli meats and cheeses you prefer - quality counts. We used to order 2 of these at Central Grocery and take them habitation on the plane from New Orleans - YUM!
03/06/2011
Excellent! Had a Mardi Gras Party and served these... zippo left! Everyone loved them and said Schlotsky's had cipher on the states! Ha! They were wonderful... volition brand again and once more! Thank you for the recipe :)
02/09/2005
Yum! Great addition to our Superbowl buffet. I omitted the pearl onions and instead, added sliced scarlet onion. I couldn't find mortadella so I left that out equally well. I didn't want soggy leftovers so I put the meats on the bread and put the salad in between the meat and the cheese. We thought it was even better the next mean solar day!
01/04/2004
Absolutely Outstanding!!!! Sandwich volition hold in fridge tightly wrapped in plastic for up to 4 days. I used my mini processor for the olives & veggies to speed things upwardly - pulse role fabricated things perfect. (Small capers went in whole.) Thanks for this recipe!!!
04/02/2003
Not being American I stumbled randomly onto muffuletta concept. Since so I tried a bunch of unlike muffuletta recipes, but this one is astonishing. I followed information technology to the letter, and the consequence was amazing.....Extremely rich yet refreshing gustatory modality. My married man, who is a very choosy eater loved it and anybody else who tried was impressed. I don't know what the original tastes like, but would recomend this recipe to anyone. Oh, and not to forget, information technology is really important to let the olive mixture stand at least overnight for the flavors to develop (tasting it straight abroad takes abroad at least one-half of its charm).
09/29/2003
Needed a special sandwich to take for a picnic supper, and this was crawly! I as well made the olive salad (double the recipe) a dark before equally others have suggested. Only changes I fabricated were to eliminate capers (don't care for them) and used red onion instead of the cocktail onions. Thank you Boo!
06/xxx/2007
I'1000 non much of a recipe follower when it comes to cooking (I like to improvise a lot), but this i looked too perfect to change. I followed the recipe exactly a few weeks ago and my dad is Notwithstanding raving about it! Next time I might leave out the capers as I don't remember them being in the muffulettas nosotros used to get in the French Quarter, but otherwise perfection! This is the real deal. The hardest part is wrapping them up and letting them sit overnight, but the expect is worth it -- they're So much improve the second day. Thanks for the recipe!
05/31/2005
This is and then expert! I only used 1/2 cup of olive oil in the olive salad because the amount called for seemed so decadent, just it was great anyway. The recipe didn't mention it, merely I diced the olive salad ingredients, since the muffuletta I had previously was fabricated that style. Also, I used the celery and carrot that came in the pickled cauliflower canteen instead of fresh. Genoa salami is much better than the less expensive versions. I don't think I will ever get tired of this sandwich!
08/12/2009
I made these for a grad party, and they were a real hitting. Easy on the cook too, because you can make them the night before, wrap tightley in plastic wrap, and go on them in the fridge. It actually improves the flavor. Considering I was short on time I used premade olive salad with excellent results.
05/16/2003
This is as shut to the Central Grocery'due south as I've e'er tasted. Very good.
03/14/2011
I made a few changes: skipped the capers, used Mezzetta Italian mix with cauliflower, celery and carrot, used hot pickled chili peppers in place of the pepperoncinis, skipped canola oil (used a footling extra EVOO) and skipped the mortadella. Fabricated a great muffaletta, according to my guests (I don't eat meat so didn't try this one).
eleven/10/2006
This olive salad is PERFECT for the muffuletta sandwich! Nosotros had these from Primal Grocery on our honeymoon, and I was trying to recreate as an ceremony present. I ommitted the cauliflower, carrots, celery seed and canola oil. I found a bakery hither that makes muffuletta bread and went to a good deli to get salami, coppa, and provolone. The sandwich was and so expert I could hear the dejection and smell the gulf! Tip: don't be temped to skimp on the amount of olive oil. Office of the dazzler of the sandwich is the olive salad soaking into the dense bread to make it moist. If y'all haven't tried this yet... yous should!
10/30/2010
Made the olive salad and ready out of a tray of meats and cheeses for our family unit's "sandwich night". Loved the olive salad beyond anything reasonable...information technology was even practiced alone in a sandwich!
03/06/2003
Thanks so much for a great recipe. I made this for our Fat Tuesday pot luck. It was a huge hit. Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe.
02/21/2011
I made this easy by ownership: Marzetta's California Hot Mix (pickled celery, carrots, cauliflower) and cans of chopped black and green olives. The remainder I kept the aforementioned. With this modification the recipe was simple AND delish!
06/08/2010
I must be @ fundamental market in New Orleans...cause it taste just like it! I made a "reduced fat" version. I measured i loving cup WHOLE stuffed olives, so crushed/minced those. I only added 2 tabular array spoons of extra light virgin oil and 1 table spoon of pure canola oil. For the veggies (celery, carrots, cauliflower) I used Mezetta Italian Mix Giardiniera (found near the olives - has that all in one jar set up to go, just mince) and added an additional table spoon of each. I left out: Kalamatas, Basil, Oregano, Onion and merely added 1 teaspoon of red vino vinegar. Made: 26 tablespoons of olive spread Calories per tablespoon: 25 calories I used different bread and my ain combo of deli meat/cheese. My main goal was to create a low fat version of this spread for sandwiches and information technology worked. Amazing, loved this recipe. I used to contemplate paying someone to purchase some of this spread and shipping it out to me from New Orleans. My blood brother said if more oil was added to soak the bread (which I avoided due to cals), this would have been it!
09/23/2009
This was good, not great. I didnt intendance for the taste of the celery seed in the olive mixture. My husband liked it, merely I could taste it too much. I used a whole wheat bread that was okay with the recipe, non quite as practiced as a white italian loaf would be simply for health reasons, I substituted.
02/25/2011
I used olive loaf instead of mortadella, same type of meat w/olives instead of fatty. excellent!!
12/12/2010
I assembled my sandwich in the morn before a twenty-four hours at the zoo. I wrapped it in plastic wrap and it stayed in the cooler until we were prepare to eat. It turned out delicious! Wonderful and loved by anybody!
06/08/2003
This is the real thing! This recipe is the closest I've found to what a existent N'awlins Muffuletta should taste like. It'south a staple at our Mardi Gras party every twelvemonth and anybody always raves. Nosotros have some serious muffuletta conuseurs and they simply honey this recipe. I also brand a the olive salad a few days early for the flavors to develop.
05/01/2010
My daughter has been obsessed with the Princess & the Frog pic and asked me to make several of the traditional New Orleans dishes mentioned in it. I had NO idea what muffuletta was until I found this recipe. I'm in no manner shape or form a large fan of olives, aside from black ones in mexican-type dishes, then I was a picayune aprehensive about trying this one. I did meet in the reviews that some others who normally don't intendance for olives liked this sandwich, and so I had some hopes I'd be the aforementioned. After gathering all the ingredients for just iv servings (1 loaf), the sandwich was quickly assembled and wrapped tightly in the fridge from lunchtime until dinner. The final verdict? My married man LOVED it and claims it should become a staple and that everyone should eat this at to the lowest degree one time. The kids only kind of picked at it - my girl didn't swallow the bread and my son didn't eat the cheese. lol. As for me - I'm still not a fan of uncooked olives, so this wasn't a huge striking with me. The meat, cheese and bread were skilful though! I'1000 still giving this five stars considering information technology was fun to make and attempt with my family and the fact that my married man thought it was so skilful. Thanks for sharing!
02/06/2010
Wonderful! It's easier to apply the olive topping that y'all put on Italian Beef for this sandwich. Selection up a jar at Michaels Fresh Market, Dominick's or even Precious stone.
02/21/2009
The real flim-flam is getting good breadstuff. Foccaccia bread works really well for soaking upwardly the oil from the olive salad. I doubled the olive oil in the salad, added some roasted red pepper and halfed the amount of meat/cheese, it was excellent! I recommendation would be to used toothpicks to keep the sliced sandwich pieces together.
06/twenty/2011
Rating this probably isn't off-white since I had to change so much. 1. I bought jarred olive salad. I'm certain homemade would exist better but time was curt and the ingredients would have been very expensive. (I will try information technology for a special occassion old.) two. I used swiss and provolone. 3. I don't know what mortadella is. I used salami, turkey and pepperoni. The point with the run into seems to be to add to the bold gustatory modality of the sandwich. Ham would be improve than turkey I'm sure, simply since I only had turkey it was fine. 4. Breadstuff is very important. It must be soft bread. Mine was a little crusty and we agreed soft would exist better. He fabricated the comment non knowing I didn't accept the right bread. v. I wasn't sure my teenagers would like the olive taste. Wrong. They loved it.
02/28/2003
This was admittedly incredible! It'south extremely flavorful and surprisingly easy to brand. By far the all-time olive spread I've ever had. I can't wait to brand it for company!
01/31/2011
This was my first fourth dimension having muffuletta and my me, my family and friends all loved it!
03/sixteen/2011
I made this for a family unit birthday/Mardi Gras commemoration and what a hit!!!! Followed the recipe exactly as posted and everyone raved over information technology..!!! I'k certain to be making this once more and once more...and not just at Mardi Gras merely all year long!! Cheers for sharing, Jenn!!!!
x/07/2006
Made exactly as per recipe except I only had 6 hours to marinate the ingredients. It was adept but I thought the olive salad overpowered the gustatory modality of the rest of the sandwich every bit did the friend who shared it with me.
03/09/2009
We were muffuletta virgins, th mister and I. This is an amazing sandwich. The only changes I fabricated were for personal preference and practicality. I cut out the cocktail onions because neither of united states of america are fond of them, cut dorsum on the pperoncini a little because we didn't have quite as many as asked for, upped the pickled cauli because we ARE very addicted of it, and served it on Olive & Onion Bread from this site because it was the right size and shape and we had some in the freezer. First-class!! Thank you!
06/06/2011
Fantastic!!
06/04/2011
This is 1 fantastic sandwich!!! Make sure you follow the directions to refrigerate the olive bask overnight. You lot could swallow it with a spoon!
05/17/2011
Excellent recipe. I made this for a political party, and it was a success. The olive spread is succulent. Sense of taste fifty-fifty better the next day. Thank for sharing this recipe.
09/27/2007
Very delicious--I didn't add capers or cockatail onions to the olive salad and it was however delicious....very portable also for potlucks or tailgates...just don't forget toothpicks!
ten/26/2010
I've never made Muffuletta before but was interested in trying it. This recipe is awesome! I had a pocket-sized gather when some of my relatives came to visit. Anybody loved it. I idea I would accept tons of leftovers simply information technology was gone past the end of the night.
07/20/2004
As good as the stuff I bought at Cardinal Grocery in New Orleans.
04/08/2009
I oasis't made the sandwiches still, we will have them for dinner. Only I'm rating the olive salad. I absolutely love it! I snuck a taste after mixing the ingredients and this olive salad is every bit shut to Key Grocery's as you can become. I used a couple of jars of mixed pitted olives (kalamata, greenish and prune,) I grated the carrot and diced the pepperocini's, I wasn't sure what I was supose to practise with the coctail onions past the recipe, so I put them in whole just to marinate the flavors, I won't put them on the sadwiches though. I besides left out the canola and added a little more olive oil. As well, since the olives I used weren't stuffed with pimento's I added some separately to the mix. I used celery salt instead of celery seed since I didn't have any on hand. It makes a lot, so I'll be giving my sister a jar to take home. I never buy the jarred varieties of olive salad, considering they simply don't compare to what I look. My sister and I were but talking almost how much nosotros missed the olive salad from the Central Grocery; this is a winner!
02/01/2010
This olive salad is admittedly fantastic!!!! Information technology is great for...Superbowl, Tailgating, New year'south Eve, Mardi Gras, Picnicing, Party time, Snack fourth dimension, or ANYTIME!!!!!! It is merely really practiced. I used 100% evoo. A good substitute for mortadella is bologna. I also used an immersion blender to blend my salad and it seemed easier than using my chopper and easier to clean than a regular blender or food processer. I e'er double the recipe and take leftover. Because information technology is immersed in vinegar and olive oil, information technology keeps really well for awhile in the refrigerator.
02/03/2008
And so yummy! Tastes actually close to Central Grocer'south. I concluded upwards post-obit the recipe exactly and wouldn't modify a thing near it - although I doubled it. I recipe isn't enough for two sandwiches. This is one helluva expensive sandwich to make it but well worth it! Thanks, Boo, for an excellent recipe! I had to add that I tried making this again with the homemade bread recipe that someone hither posted and it is DIVINE! I will forgo the bakery breadstuff from at present on!
08/ten/2009
This is soooo good! Even my mom, who turns her nose up at any sandwich that doesn't have turkey on it, loved information technology. Cheers for the olive salad recipe -- it'due south swell and lends itself nicely to tweaks and additions/omissions.
02/22/2012
Pretty good! I'm non a fan of olives (especially Kalamatas), merely this wasn't bad at all. I wouldn't make this often, but for Fat Tuesday fare, it hitting the spot. :) To my surprise, I thought the olive salad was the best part! If the ratio of Kalamata / stuffed green olives were reversed, it would have non been to my liking at all. So that the olive taste wouldn't overwhelm every seize with teeth, I coarsely chopped mine (every bit opposed to crushing them). I besides chopped my pepperoncini (biting into a whole one didn't appeal to me). Considering I adopt a warm sandwich, I heated mine (foil covered) in a 250 degree oven for about 25 minutes. Ironically, my local Italian market didn't have seeded Italian bread, but I found a i lb. loaf at a pop grocery chain. I'm soooo glad I institute a seeded loaf of bread. Information technology really made a HUGE difference, IMHO. NOTE: Programme ahead so that you can refrigerate your assembled sandwich for a few hours - and be certain to add some of the oil from your olive salad and then that information technology soaks into your bread (information technology adds GREAT flavour...yum!). I've never had a true muffaletta from Central Grocery, merely if it tastes anything like this, I'd be in for a real treat! Thanks for sharing, Jenn! :-)
09/18/2011
I started by making the breadstuff. I used Mama D'due south Italian from this site, it is a favorite of mine and the recipe volition produce 2, 9"- x" boules. When the loaves were formed for the second rise, I spritzed it with a petty water and sprinkled sesame seeds on top and covered. Nearly 20-25 minutes afterward they were fix for the oven and just earlier I put them in, I gently brushed on an egg mixture of 2 TBSP of cold water and 1 egg. Associates: I had made the olive salad, as written, the twenty-four hour period before and put the mixture into a jar and fabricated sure there was plenty of olive oil to comprehend the mixture. I then advisedly hollowed out the top and bottom of the bread subsequently slicing through the middle. I weighed out the mixture into four prep bowls and so laid out the meats and cheeses for associates. I spread the salad into each half of the bread evenly and started layering the meat and cheese on, making certain everything came out to the edge. After the last of the cheese was layered on, I aligned the acme to the bottom and flipped the summit to the bottom. I ended up with two, three+ pound sandwiches. I wrapped both sandwiches in plastic wrap and accept them in the fridge to let the flavors come together. *UPDATE* Just got dorsum from the party, and the Muffuletta was a large hit. I'll be using this quite often for sure!
07/18/2007
My mom fabricated these for a tail gate political party and they were Amazing! There is absolutely no need to change this recipe. Fifty-fifty my very picky husband loved it.
02/17/2008
Awesome, easy, huge Party food! I followed the directions to a T - except for the celery seed. I brought this to super bowl and most made fun of the name 8 - ) In one case they tasted it everyone asked what resteraunt it was from. I made the olive relish a solar day before, put the sandwiches together around 10am, wrapped them in plastic wrap for effectually 4 to 5 hours before serving. Left overs were not bad the side by side day! These were a little pricey to make if you lot utilize good meat and cheese merely well worth it because how many people they volition feed plus the quality!
08/01/2003
A keen recipe to try in one case...Information technology is a very proficient recipe but a lot of piece of work. We live in the Midwest so it was quite a chore to discover the right ingredients (i.e. Italian staff of life, cauliflower, molenta). I guess possibly we were expecting something more than spectacular after all the piece of work and wait. Mayhap we are just spoiled and/or lazy but our favorite deli serves a tremendous muffuletta that nosotros prefer to this version. At $half-dozen.00 for a sandwich that feeds 2+ people, the deli is non just a whole lot easier, merely far less expensive.
02/xx/2011
Didnt take all the meat ingredients. Fabricated exercise with pepperoni, salami, ham and turkey. The olive dressing was UNBELIEVABLE! Would double it side by side time... Makes for a nice change from the typical sandwich. Skillful for company as well...
02/27/2006
Wow!! I cannot say plenty nearly how great this sandwich is! Chopping a lot of the savor ingredients in the food processor (as someone else suggested) sure was a fourth dimension saver. I toned the spices down a lot because I don't like hot things - reduced the black pepper to 1/4 tsp., and omitted the pepperoncini peppers. I don't like onion after-sense of taste, so I left off the onions, too. I reduced the amount of oil a ton - used only i/4 cup olive oil, and omitted the canola oil entirely. I lightly basted the bread with olive oil, so spread on the olive relish. It was wonderful! Thanks so much for the recipe!!
02/19/2004
This was the best Muffuletta recipe I've tried Boo! I had to leave out the carrots due to allergies simply I did add some marinated artichokes. Super Duper and thanks!
05/25/2009
I really loved this every bit did my family we hosted a few unadventurous guests who said it was okay. I have never had a Muffuletta before so I have nothing to compare this to all I tin say is it was super tasty! Only affair I changed was using celery table salt instead of celery seed considering I didnt accept it on hand and used red wine vinegar infused with garlic. Oh, and put information technology on sun dried tomato bread, yummy!!!
08/03/2005
Fantabulous sandwich!! Love the olive salad!
05/11/2012
Too much oil. Cutting the oil in 1/ii and was plenty. Otherwise fabricated simply as stated.
12/twenty/2012
My kids have been turkey and mayo with pickles exclusively their whole lives. This recipe changed that. I blend mine to hibernate the cauliflower and capers from my kids and they will destroy this sandwich. My viii year old would consume a 12 inch sub of this repast and he is only 55 lbs. Serves a crowd! Savor!
04/29/2011
This was fun to make. I made it vegetarian for a friend's party. I used fresh mozzarella in identify of meat and information technology got great reviews. Thanks!
06/18/2005
I made this for a Superbowl party and it was a hit. I loved it!
02/06/2005
Great recipe! Everyone loved information technology. It tasted better than the muffuletta I had in New Orleans. I served information technology with Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo in a cup on the side, fresh fruit, and cole slaw.
09/03/2010
Yum yum! I made these the evening before to take on our Saturday beach trip for lunch and they were divine! Perfect in the cooler.
08/01/2006
Yummy! I made a number of changes to assistance make this a little more healthy, merely the seasonings make the spread! Vary tastey!
07/28/2007
This is a good recipe merely instead of buying day one-time bread from the store, it is really easy to make your ain peculiarly with a bread machine. There is a web page www.nolacuisine.com that has a wonderful recipe for the bread and it takes very niggling time. I make information technology for only the bread and non necessarily the sandwich.
03/06/2006
Outstanding recipe! Information technology made style more than 8 servings. Anybody wanted the recipe. My simply negative is that it was a little salty with all the olives and lunch meat.
02/xi/2002
This is Bang-up! My son-in-law keeps asking when I'g going to make information technology again. Think I'll surprise him for Fathers Day. Thanks so much for sharing Boo.
03/23/2004
I fabricated this for my Mom's Altogether and everyone LOVED information technology! Even my Dad, who grew up in New Orleans thought it tasted like the "existent thing". Will definitely be making this once again.
02/05/2008
I can't say enough nearly this recipe. Most of my co-workers have gourmet palates and they really love this sandwhich. I utilise the french "miche" bread from Panera when making this.
02/16/2010
These were a super hit!! We made them for Super bowl/Mardi Gras political party and they were great! I bought the bread from a south declension grocery store specifically for muffuletta'southward..They turn out HUGE then we ended up with waymore than enough. I put mine in tin can foil, permit them sit in the fridge for a couple of hours and baked them for about thirty minutes and served them hot...Fabulous!!
02/08/2010
Made this for Super Basin. I have never had muffuletta only I have seen it prepared on the Nutrient Network and it always makes my mouth water! The problem I had is that after being in the refrigerator for the afternoon, my loaf was all soggy on the lesser (from the olive salad). Is this normal for muffuletta? I don't know only I didn't care for the soggy texture. It reminded me of when my kids throw pieces of stale Wonder Bread in the pond for the ducks to swallow! Bated from the unappealing texture of the bread, the salad itself was okay. I don't think I'll make this over again--unless of course the Saints make it to some other Super Bowl!

Definitely a keeper! I didn't take all the ingredients such as onions and celery salt but even without these ingredients, information technology was fantabulous. Even my husband said that the Olive Salad made a plain sub sandwich taste extraordinary.

This is a adept sandwich, just it did not sense of taste the aforementioned equally the Muffuletta I got in New Orleans. As well I prefer mine toasted and add together a tiny amount of a hearty mustard.

The olive salad lone is reason to give this recipe 5 stars. It'south crazy expensive if yous tin't buy small amounts of ingredients (I am somewhat rural) and so I made a double batch and with a few more than greenish olives and capers, I can make another. I had about a gallon of the stuff and idea I'd never employ information technology all. I gave some abroad but then I tried it on abode made gnocchi and, well, I'm keeping the remainder and making more. Bruschetta, pizza, cheese and crackers...direct out of the jar. It's phenomenal. I once bought a jar from Fundamental Grocery in NOLA and it was not this good! My only tweak was a little chopped fresh parsley.

Wow! I made this for our Superbowl Party and everyone raved. I made lots of changes to the olive salad; used an olive spread, omitted the pepperoncini, onions and canola oil. I did brand the olive salad the nighttime earlier. I assembled the sandwich in the morning, using blackness forest ham, Genoa salami, and capicola, mozzarella and provolone. I did mirror layers on each half of the bread. Then I put the halves together and wrapped it in plastic wrap. I refrigerated it with a weight on top to really compress the slices of meat and cheese. When it was cut, each slice had cute layers of meat and cheese and olive salad. It was delicious. The side by side time I arrive I volition add together a middle layer of roasted cerise pepper. Cheers for a dandy sandwich!

I come back to this recipe again and over again - always a oversupply-pleaser. The only problem I accept is finding it - the second "U" in the title means this doesn't come upwards when searched! The olive salad is amazing, even to people who don't like olives. It's also very flexible -- don't Non make it because y'all don't take a few of the items. And be sure to include the celery and carrots - tho a small amount that niggling crunch makes all of the difference.

First-class! It is definitely worth the time information technology takes to put the olive salad together and let the flavors meld.

This was a really large hit at our last party!!

This is one awesome sandwich! Succulent crowd pleaser. I particularly appreciate that the olive salad is made ahead of time; making the sandwich is a breeze. Once the sandwich is made, it travels well. Seriously would give this 10 stars for bully taste + satisfying + ease. Thank you!!!!

This sandwich was the best!! I haven't had a muffuletta in (many) years and as presently equally I tasted this it took me dorsum - it was a dainty memory. I made them for my Mardi Gras political party and I had a few guests that have been to New Orleans and they said it was "correct on". Thanks then much for this recipe it really is the best!!

Good except for the Mortadella. I'k non a fan of this bologna mimic.

This really does make HUGE sandwiches! I dear the olive salad, but there was just likewise much meat for us, no-i could manage more than the smallest piece!

Reeeeeeally tasty! I made this for a catering effect that had a chip of a theme... and this fit perfectly for New Orleans! The flavors are incredible together - but information technology's a bit messy!! I dear the presentation but information technology's so hard to eat! Oh well, it was a hit!

This is the best muffuletta I've ever had, by far. I used this recipe (using chopped artichoke hearts instead of the cauliflower I couldn't notice) for a family picnic and it was the hit of the party. We've had muffuletta in restaurants, but the olive salad always seems skunky compared to this awesome fresh version. It'due south like shooting fish in a barrel to make, and carries and looks as great as information technology takes. From now on I'm sure this olive salad will always be in my fridge. Its actually good on pita wedges too!!
